The Financial Times has published the list of 25 Russia’s “movers and shakers”. Russian TV host and a socialite Ksenia Sobchak and Daria Zhukova, billionaire Roman Abramovich's girlfriend lead influential Russians in showbiz.
The Entertainment section is crowned by the Russian answer to Paris Hilton Ksenia Sobchak, a local celebrity and TV host. Recently she revealed her interest in political journalism having interviewed the leader of Kremlin's youth movement Nashi.
The list continues with another socialite and the girlfriend of oligarch Roman Abramovich Dasha Zhukova. She heads the Garage Contemporary Art Center in Moscow, the newly opened art and cultural exchange. Zhukova received the gallery as a gift from her boyfriend.
Another gallery owner, civil society activist, and popular blogger Marat Gelman follows Zhukova on the list.
Russian cinema is represented by Aleksey Popogrebsky, whose How I ended this Summer won three Silver Bear awards at Berlinale last year. Another director Valeria Guy Germanika, whose Everybody Dies But Me earned a special mention at Cannes in 2008 comes next.
Among the remarkable figures of politics is popular opposition blogger Aleksey Navalny who made his name though social networks. He was arrested on December 5 during the demonstration against the parliamentary election fraud. Another politician on the list is Vladislav Surkov, the acting head of the Presidential Administration. He was labeled by FT as "the black prince of the Kremlin propaganda machine."
Businessmen Evgeny Kaspersky, Russia's leading specialist in the information security and computer viruses and Arkady Volozh, the principal founder of Russian search engine Yandex crown the list of businessmen.
The FT list has been compiled to mark the 20th anniversay of modern Russia.
